It spreads by sprouting out new pieces from itself but this happens slower than with xenia so it is easier to control and won't become a nuisance like xenia can be. It does best in tanks with good water chemistry, if you do not maintain your calcium and alkalinity at normal levels it will not thrive and will tend to whither away.
